چکیده

We report femtosecond optical signal processing by using second-order spectral holography. Enhanced secondorder diffraction from a thermoplastic plate makes possible new signal-processing operations not possible with first-order holography. Experiments resulting in output waveforms equal to the autoconvolution function of the input waveform are described, and the possibility of optical signals is discussed.

Bandwidth study of volume holography in photorefractive InP:Fe for femtosecond pulse readout at 1.5 mm

The Bragg selectivity of volume holograms makes them not well suited for many Fourier imaging processing applications in the space domain because they perform the function of a spatial filter and limit the field of view. Similarly, for femtosecond pulse holography they reduce the spectral bandwidth of the diffracted signal. However, we show both theoretically and experimentally that it is much ...

Harmonic holography: a new holographic principle.

The process of second harmonic generation (SHG) has a unique property of forming a sharp optical contrast between noncentrosymmetric crystalline materials and other types of material, which is a highly valuable asset for contrast microscopy. The coherent signal obtained through SHG also allows for the recording of holograms at high spatial and temporal resolution, enabling whole-field four-dime...

A Robust Extrapolation Method for Curtailed Aperture Reconstruction in Acoustic Imaging

Acoustic Imaging based sound localization using microphone array is a challenging task in digital-signal processing. Discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based near-field acoustical holography (NAH) is an important acoustical technique for sound source localization and provide an efficient solution to the ill-posed problem. However, in practice, due to the usage of small curtailed aperture and its ...

Nonvolatile photorefractive spectral holography.

We demonstrate nonvolatile storage of femtosecond pulses in a photorefractive LiNbO(3) crystal with recording and readout of spectral holograms at wavelengths of 460 and 920 nm, respectively. No degradation was observed after 24 h of continuous readout. We also show that we can realize the time-lens effect with our system by appropriately setting the ratio of the recording and the reconstructio...
